Greetings artists and friends of the arts,
Pennsylvania Arts funding is in serious jeopardy. On May 6, 2009, the
Pennsylvania Senate passed SB 850, which included ZERO funding for arts
grants
through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. If this proposed budget
is
passed as is, there will be.... NO funding for Artist Residencies, No
funding
for Art Programs and No funding for Art Projects!!!!
On Monday May 11th, House Appropriations Chair Dwight Evans introduced
the House
budget bill (HB 1416) which includes $14 million for arts grants. The
House
will act on this piece of legislation later this month. As PA taxpayers,
we
must take action immediately.
One way you can show your support of the arts in PA is by following this
